Case Study: Clothing Line Development

About the Project

The FW23 Clothing Collection: Handle with Care was developed for Oeuf NYC, drawing inspiration from the wonder and fragility of nature. This collection combined playful yet sophisticated designs, with a focus on organic textures, rich color palettes, and hand-illustrated motifs.

Featuring over 300 styles, the collection was crafted from baby alpaca fleece, pima cotton, quilted linen/cotton, and French terry, emphasizing both quality and sustainability.

This case study outlines the end-to-end process of bringing the collection to life—from early concept development to production. Through brainstorming, design development, and sampling, the collection evolved into a thoughtfully crafted line that embodied the essence of nature.

Roles: Clothing Design, Illustration, Surface Pattern Design, Art Direction, Stylist, Photo Editing

Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel

Client: Oeuf NYC (In-House Project)

Phase 1: Brainstorming and Planning

In this stage we gather inspiration and start brainstorming and creating moodboards to narrow down theme, new styles, colors, trims, and more.

Phase 2: Design and Development

Illustrate graphics, motifs, embroideries and patterns using the inspiration and color stories. Develop CADs with the designs and start filling out linesheet. Request and recieve lab dips and fabric samples from factories.

Phase 3: Finalize Linesheet for Sampling

After we recieve lab dips, color and print samples, we finalize our CADs and linesheets. Spec sheets are updated and sent to factories so they can begin the sampling process.

Phase 4: Photography and Lookbook

Once samples are received we photograph them alone and on models. Each sample is then adjusted and approved and the final linesheet and specs are sent to factories for production.
